The reason Lucas Condotta was not included in the latest round of cuts has now been explained. According to Marco D’Amico, the forward is currently dealing with an injury.
He will be placed on waivers once he receives medical clearance to return to action, D’Amico reported.
Nicolas Cloutier also noted that Condotta could be sidelined for a while.
That means another forward will eventually have to be placed on waivers by Kent Hughes.
Lucas Condotta is dealing with an injury
Condotta had already received a treatment day earlier this week, along with Ivan Demidov.
That medical situation now explains why his name did not appear in either of the Canadiens’ two waves of cuts.
The forward was also involved in a fight during a preseason game against Toronto, which appears to be connected to the injury.
A potential one-month absence complicates the Canadiens’ roster planning, especially when it comes to the final makeup of the Laval Rocket.
Once Condotta is cleared, the Rocket could eventually welcome him back following the usual waiver process.
Fans will have to wait a little longer before finding out which player will be next to join Daniel Jacob’s group.
The Canadiens are still working through their final roster decisions ahead of the September 28 deadline, even with this situation dragging on.
These kinds of cases are fairly common at this stage of training camp, when minor injuries often start to surface.
“The reason why Lucas Condotta wasn’t on the waiver wire today is because he’s dealing with an injury per Nicolas.
Will be placed on waivers when he is cleared to return to play.”
