Tampa Bay begins the regular season after finishing preseason play with a 3-2 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Lucas Mercuri and Benjamin Rautiainen scored in regulation before Rautiainen delivered the shootout winner, while Dennis Hildeby made 20 saves. The Lightning went 2-1-1 during the preseason and enter the new year with Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Victor Hedman again leading a veteran core that also added John Carlson during the offseason.
New York is looking to bounce back quickly after being shut out 3-0 by the Boston Bruins in its season opener Tuesday night. Igor Shesterkin kept the Rangers within striking distance for much of the game, as the Bruins scored all three of their goals in the last four minutes of regulation. New York now returns to Madison Square Garden for its home opener with several offseason additions, including Pavel Dorofeyev, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Sean Durzi, looking to help break a two-season missed playoff streak.
This is a great NHL matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
