Dallas Stars News & Notes
Dallas opened the preseason on Sept. 19 in St. Louis and beat the Blues 2-1. Arttu Hyry scored 16 seconds into the game off a feed from Cameron Hughes, and Jack Becker restored the lead in the second period after picking up a loose puck and going in alone on Jordan Binnington. Remi Poirier started in goal for the Stars, coming off a season with the AHL’s Texas Stars in which he went 27-19-8 with a 2.61 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
The Stars announced their initial roster for the 2026-27 season on Sept. 28 and placed Kyle Burroughs on waivers in late September. Matt Duchene will not be available when Dallas opens the season against St. Louis. Away from the ice, the club has booked Charles Wesley Godwin to headline its Hall of Fame Induction Gala.
Nashville Predators News & Notes
Nashville’s goaltending depth drew attention through camp. Ethan Haider, a fifth-round pick in 2019 at 148th overall, remained with the NHL club into late September and was one of two goaltenders, alongside Justus Annunen, listed for the preseason game against Carolina in Greensboro. T.J. Semptimphelter was assigned to Milwaukee along with Kalan Lind and Austin Roest, with goaltender Isak Posch following in a later round of cuts. Semptimphelter posted a 2.28 goals-against average in Atlanta last season.
The organization’s September prospect showcase in North Carolina produced a 4-1 win over Carolina, with Michel Myloserdnyy, Cole O’Hara, Aiden Fink and Vitali Pinchuk scoring and Nashville’s goaltenders stopping all 10 shootout attempts. Semptimphelter started and worked the opening 30 minutes before Ben Hrebik relieved him. Lind, a 2023 second-round pick, fought Carolina defenseman Charles-Alexis Legault in the first period. Defenseman Owen Murray, a former UMass captain who attended Nashville’s rookie camp, later signed with ECHL Atlanta.

Players To Watch
Wyatt Johnston — Dallas Stars
Johnston led Dallas forwards with 21:49 of ice time last time out and fired a team-high four shots without finding the scoresheet. With Matt Duchene on injured reserve, that workload down the middle isn’t shrinking. If you’re shopping a shots-on-goal prop, he’s the obvious Stars name tonight.
Filip Forsberg — Nashville Predators
Forsberg assisted on Roman Josi’s goal last time out while logging 19:29 and two shots. Box Score Junkie has him at 59.0% Corsi-for with 70.8 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date, strong territorial numbers, though he’s yet to score on 0.2 expected goals. Positive regression candidate.
