Utah Mammoth News & Notes

Utah opened the 2026-27 season with a 6-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in its home opener, then followed with a 4-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The club announced its 23-man opening night roster on Sept. 28. André Tourigny returns behind the bench after signing a multiyear contract in June, part of a staff update that also included a new deal for Forsythe and the addition of Foote. The team’s official hashtag remains #TusksUp.

General manager Bill Armstrong reshaped the lineup over the summer, acquiring Vincent Trocheck and Anders Lee, with Sean Durzi, Beaudoin and a third-round pick going out in the Trocheck deal. The blue line took a hit before the opener, as Maveric Lamoureux underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to miss four to six months. Utah’s rookie camp roster in September featured Tucson Roadrunners regulars Owen Allard, Michael Hrabal, Daniil But and Artem Duda, the latter returning from a leg injury.

New York Rangers News & Notes

Goaltending has been the story in New York over the past week. A report indicated Joonas Korpisalo is week to week, and the offseason acquisition landed on injured reserve. The Rangers followed with a roster move involving a 24-year-old goaltender ahead of their meeting with Tampa Bay. Dylan Garand figured into the takeaways from a 2-0 road win over Detroit, a game in which Sean Durzi and Eeli Tolvanen were also among the names cited.

The club revealed its opening night roster earlier this week. Forward Adam Sykora left the preseason opener against New Jersey with a lower-body injury, and the team later shared a disappointing update on the prospect. General manager Chris Drury has described the retool as going to plan, saying the offseason additions made the Rangers younger and faster. Defenseman Braden Schneider, in his sixth season, has been floated as a trade candidate before the deadline. The team hashtag remains #NYR.
