Wild CRO and EVP Mitch Helgerson said that Comcast is the television provider with which the team and NHL “are ‘the most at odds,’ and questioned why Comcast customers should have to pay extra to watch Wild games when they already pay a regional sports network fee.” The Wild launched their new television operation this season with games now available locally through several options, including Wild+ on Prime Video, Fubo and Charter/Spectrum. But two “major holes remain: Comcast and DirecTV.” Helgerson indicated that the Wild are “more encouraged about the DirecTV negotiations.” He said, “The one that we are the most at odds with is Comcast.” Helgerson mentioned that at the center of the Comcast dispute “is where the new Wild channel would be placed” (THE ATHLETIC, 10/3).
Meanwhile, for the Blues, DirecTV was expected to join soon for BlueNote+ but the deal was not reach on Saturday. And as of Thursday, several other major programming distributors that are available in the region had “not contracted to show the channel,” including Dish Network, Comcast, YouTube TV and Hulu with Live TV. The team is asking fans who have a programming distributor that is not on board to “contact that company to try to push it to add the channel — or purchase either the Prime or Fubo streaming options.” But that might “not sit well with some folks already paying for another provider” (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 10/2).
