Suzuki quickly left the team celebration to go retrieve the puck from the net.

He then handed it to Kreider, allowing him to keep a special souvenir from his first goal in a Canadiens uniform.

It’s a rare gesture for a veteran, usually reserved for younger players and NHL rookies.

Nick Suzuki’s gesture to Chris Kreider highlights Canadiens’ tight-knit locker room

The captain’s gesture says a lot about the outstanding atmosphere inside this locker room, something Kreider himself pointed out earlier this week.

He described a very close-knit group that has fun together while bringing an impressive work ethic every single day.

That first career goal with the Canadiens capped off a particularly meaningful night for the forward.

And he played a direct role in sparking that spectacular comeback!

What a great moment of camaraderie for a team that already looks extremely tight-knit this early in the regular season.

You can’t really see it in the clips above, but TVA Sports reporter Renaud Lavoie was the one who described the scene in real time during the live television broadcast.

That certainly bodes well for what’s ahead!

I think that was the first time I had ever seen a 35-year-old veteran receive that kind of “honor” after scoring his first goal with a new team.

This locker room is special and unique!
