The Boston Bruins can’t win them all and picked up their first loss of the season.
The Bruins fell to the Minnesota Wild last night. The Bruins struck first, with Tanner Jeannot opening the scoring before the two-minute mark, but the Wild scored four unanswered goals in the last 40 minutes. Special teams proved to be the difference, as both the Bruins’ power play and penalty kill struggled. The penalty kill had a bright spot and killed a long 5-on-3, but Quinn Hughes scored as soon as it became a 5-on-4.
The Bruins are returning home for a week-long homestand. Once that is done, Charlie McAvoy is eligible to return to the lineup.
Elsewhere around the league, it’s not looking any prettier in Detroit. Simon Edvinsson prefers to be moved. The Red Wings are prioritizing signing him, but the sides are reportedly not talking. The Panthers are moving Aleksander Barkov to LTIR, and the Edmonton Oilers are looking for some forward depth. Patrick Kane returned to Buffalo and confirmed that they were the second team in the mix to sign him this summer.
Happy Sunday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:
