A Varennes, Québec native, Trudeau was selected in the 11th round, 194th overall, of the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft by the Drummondville Voltigeurs, but was traded to the Charlottetown Islanders in a December 2018 trade involving Pierre-Olivier Joseph. He played three seasons for the Islanders from 2019-2022, collecting 20 goals and 70 assists in 166 regular season QMJHL games. He added seven goals and six assists in 22 playoff games.
Trudeau spent the last four seasons with the Laval Rocket, the AHL affiliate of the Montréal Canadiens, where he scored 28 goals to go along with 62 assists in 260 regular season games. He added three assists in 15 playoff games.
Selected by the Canadiens in the fourth round, 113th overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Trudeau was traded to the New York Rangers this offseason before he was claimed off waivers by the Predators in September.
