Three games, 11 goals, ten different goal scorers.

The Golden Knights are getting contributions from all over the lineup early on, and it’s a big reason why they’ve been able to win a pair of games and nearly come back in the other.

That production has been fueled by a fairly balanced usage of the forward lines at even strength. Aside from the 3rd period of the Anaheim game, when Ryan Craig went down to using just three lines, he’s essentially rolled the four lines, and contributions have followed.

Five different players have an even-strength goal (Marner, Eichel, Connelly, Bowman, Gatcomb) and nine of the 12 have at least a point. The only guys without a point are Mark Stone, William Karlsson, and Tomas Hertl, all of whom have made big impacts on special teams.

I thought all four of our lines were good. I thought different lines had different spurts at at different times. We talked about trying to stack shifts together. -Craig

VGK’s rebuilt fourth line really started to come together in last night’s game at Rogers Arena. Marc Gatcomb scored a big goal to give Vegas the lead back after conceding it late in the 2nd. It took all three members of the line to make plays to create the goal, though. Gatcomb started the play by getting the puck in deep, then Nic Dowd made a nice little touch pass to create space for Braeden Bowman. He took the puck directly to the front of the goal and wrapped a pass out front for Gatcomb to slam it home.

I thought our fourth line was really good today. I started them at the start of the 3rd. I thought they could give us some energy with the forecheck, and they did do that. They’re starting to form a bit of an identity with that line, knocking down pucks. There’s some trust being built there with each other. -Craig

The newest member of VGK’s new “identity line” is starting to make a real impression on the head coach.

I thought Gatcomb had some real good jump tonight. His stick has gotten much much better on pucks checking. He’s a physical guy. Now, can he separate the body and and get his stick on the puck? We saw that on the goal. They get in on the forecheck. They attack. He wins a race to the back post to the net. Just a real good game as he continues to build his game with us. -Craig

The scoring won’t stay this evenly spread all season, especially against tougher opposition. But through three games, the Golden Knights have shown they can get production from anywhere, making them a difficult team to contain.
