After back-to-back overtime wins, the San Jose Sharks look to stay undefeated when they play their first road game of the season against the Dallas Stars on Monday.

The Dallas Stars are still looking for their first win of the season as they host the San Jose Sharks, who have yet to lose, on Monday night. The Stars have been searching for goals after playing two division rivals to start the season. Dallas was shutout 4-0 in its season opener at home. The Stars’ second game was much closer, but the result was the same. They lost 2-1 to the Nashville Predators on the road on Saturday. Dallas shocked the Predators early in their season opener when Miro Heiskanen scored the first goal of the game just 47 seconds after the first puck drop. But Nashville dominated the rest of the game. Predators’ goalie Juuse Saros calmed down considerably, finishing the game with 29 saves as he earned the second star. The Predators scored on two power play goals in the first period, with neither team scoring in the second and third. Dallas outshot Nashville 30-26, but it couldn’t break through again, now going into this third game with just one goal on the season. These Western Conference foes will meet again in Dallas in nearly a month.

Both of San Jose’s season opening wins came in overtime. This is the Sharks’ first road game of the season. San Jose beat the Florida Panthers in their season opener, 4-3. It followed that up on Saturday with an in-state rivalry win over the Los Angeles Kings, 5-4. LA scored first, but San Jose scored three straight to open the second period. The Kings bounced back by scoring with just two seconds left on the power play to pull within a goal. Igor Chernyshov scored again at the start of the third period for his first goal of the game, rebuilding the Sharks’ two-goal advantage. But the Kings eventually forced overtime by scoring back-to-back goals.

Chernyshov came in clutch again, though, scoring at 3:18 in overtime to walk off the game. The left winger added an assist to earn the first star of the game, while Tyler Toffoli earned the third by adding a goal and an assist.
