The Minnesota Wild will play the third game of their new season on Tuesday, when they take the ice in Upstate (Western) New York for an early-October road matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.
While they are off to a great start in the win column, the same cannot be said for the injury report. The Wild remain mum on the status of Brock Faber, whose skull was fractured in Minnesota’s final preseason game against Dallas.
The latest update we got on the homegrown former Gopher was via Michael Russo (The Athletic). He reported over the weekend that there are some scary behind-the-scenes details that neither he nor the Wild feel comfortable releasing to the public at this time. Then on Monday, the MN Wild’s list of injury issues seemingly got longer.
Danila Yurov dealing with upper-body injury
On Monday, young centerman Danila Yurov — who has been centering Minnesota’s top line between fellow Russians Kirill Kaprizov and Max Shabanov — left practice early with an upper-body injury.
After practice, head coach John Hynes told reporters that Yurov’s exit from practice was preplanned and for precautionary reasons, then added that the 22-year-old‘s status for Tuesday in Buffalo is uncertain.
Yurov left practice as a “precaution.” Hynes not sure if he’ll play tomorrow or not. But these would be lines if he doesn’t. Got banged up Saturday. #mnwild

Yurov was the Minnesota Wild’s 24th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. In two games this season, he has one assist (plus two shots, four hits, one blocked shot, 12:35 average ice time), per Hockey-Reference.
New Minnesota Wild lines if Yurov is out
If Yurov sits Tuesday at Buffalo, Joe Smith (The Athletic) reports these as the MN Wild’s adjusted forward lines from practice:

Yurov may be starting games on Kaprizov’s line, but he hasn’t been by his side for every shift. He played just 12:29 in game one and 12:41 in game two, when he got “banged up,” per Hynes.
Shabanov, meanwhile, is averaging 15:02 TOI this season. Kaprizov, aided by the penalty kill and third period super line time with Matt Boldy, is averaging 19:51 TOI through two games. That number is actually down from his career average of 20:44.
As a rookie last season, Danila Yurov scored 12 goals and added 15 assists in 73 games. He contributed in a positive way to the Wild’s deepest playoff run in a decade too, notching a goal and two assists in nine playoff appearances.
