The Philadelphia Flyers head down south to Tampa Bay to face the Tampa Bay Lightning and things stay south for the Flyers. Getting out shot and out worked all night the Flyers drop this one 4-1 to the Lightning dropping their record to 0-2-2. The Flyers still just cannot figure out the power play struggles and cannot get any offensive pressure.

Dan Vladar is the reason they were in this one for the majority of the game, he was getting peppered with shots and gave the Flyers a chance but the offense could not help him out. The power play is still a problem going 0-2 on the night now being 0-10 on the season.

Game Breakdown

1st Period: The Flyers come out again weak against the Lightning once again losing the shot battle in the period 10-3. At the start of the game they were holding their own and then after two penalties one by Owen Tippett and the other by Trevor Zegras the Lightning just took over. Turnovers and not being able to clear the zone is what really hindered the Flyers and the Lightning took over. 16:05 into the first period the Lightning struck with a shot from John Carlson off the faceoff which got deflected by Brayden Point right in front of the net for the Tampa Bay goal.

2nd Period: The 2nd period could not have started worse for the Flyers, giving up a goal :17 seconds in is a really tough way to start after finishing the 1st on a bad note. The Flyers got dominated for the majority of the period yet again not being able to get the puck out of their zone and maintaining time in the offensive zone. Then 7:22 into the 2nd Tyson Foerster rips one from the point that appeared to go off a body but ended up being Foerster’s goal to make it 2-1.

3rd Period: A lot of the same in the third period that we saw all night. Not being able to maintain any offensive zone time, and failing at the power play. 17:00 into the third Pontus Holmberg dangled around David Jiricek and then found Ilya Mikheyev to make it a 3-1 game. And to wrap the game up Brandon Hagel scored an empty netter to make it a 4-1 finish.
