The Minnesota Wild look to open the season with three straight wins as they face the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Wild look to stay perfect early in the season as they travel to take on the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. The Wild have won both at home and on the road in their first two games. The Wild have won both games by a healthy margin. They won their season opener on the road against the Nashville Predators, 3-1, and then they won their home opener on Saturday, 4-1, against the Boston Bruins. The Wild are off to a great start, picking up right where they left off as one of the best teams in the Central Division. Now they will have a full season of Quinn Hughes after last year’s trade with the Vancouver Canucks, which should give them an extra boost. Quinn Hughes was clutch in Minnesota’s win against Boston, earning the second star with a goal and an assist. Goalie Jesper Wallstedt was the first star of the night, stopping 26 shots, and he settled down tremendously after giving up the first goal just 1:53 into the game. But it was ol’ reliable for Minnesota to seal the win, with Kirill Kaprizov scoring two goals. Kaprizov’s first goal came early in the second period on the power play, tying the game. Hughes also scored on the power play later in the period, and Minnesota never looked back. This game is expected to be close against Buffalo, as the Wild are slight -112 favorites to win three straight to open the year.

The Sabres are coming off a nice bounce-back win in their home opener on Saturday, beating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3. That came after their season opener when they lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets on the road, 6-3. Chicago scored the first two goals, but Jack Quinn got Buffalo within one at the end of the first period. Tage Thompson tied the game early in the second for Buffalo. Chicago retook the lead late in the second, and it wasn’t until early in the third that the Sabres retied the game with a goal from Rasmus Dahlin. Jiri Kulich was the first star of the game, scoring the go-ahead goal that ultimately won it with 6:40 left in regulation. Buffalo pulled off the comeback by outshooting Chicago 28-15 at home.
