Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: Simon Edvinsson wants out of Detroit, and there is a better chance than not 31 GMs will be calling. Edvinsson fits exactly what the Flyers look for in their defenseman, and is a can’t-miss trade opportunity for the Flyers.
Speaking of which, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman says that Philly is one of the teams circling for the big Detroit blueliner.
The Flyers also got some good news on the injury front. Denver Barkey, who had yet to play in a regular season game, drew into the lineup on Monday. Rasmus Ristolainen, who is still nursing an injury, at least made the road trip with the team. Here is the latest on the injured Flyers.
Lastly, the Flyers are still looking for their first win this season. Though the score does not show it, goaltending once again helped them hang in there against a tough opponent. However, the Tampa Bay Lightning still got the best of them. Here is what happened in the Flyers’ latest loss.
NHL Trade Rumors & News
NHL.com: The 2026-27 NHL season will be the last one for the Great 8. Once this season concludes, the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer is hanging up his skates, at least in the NHL, when Alexander Ovechkin retires at the end of the season.
It’s worth noting that the Capitals’ last game of the season is in Philadelphia against the Flyers. If, somehow, the Caps don’t make the postseason, Ovechkin’s final game could be played at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Sportsnet: The Calgary Flames have placed young center Connor Zary on waivers on Monday, meaning he could be headed somewhere new by 2:00 PM ET on Tuesday. I would not expect the Flyers to be involved, as the center has shown nothing more than 4th line scoring so far in his career. But a young center on waivers sounds destined to be claimed by someone.
Florida Hockey Now: Sasha Barkov is once again hurt, and this one does not look good. Social media rumors began to swirl that Barkov could miss a significant chunk of the season following his most recent injury. However, Paul Maurice says not so fast, and that there is no official update yet. George Richards has the latest on the status of the Panthers’ captain.
Detroit Hockey Now: America’s favorite dumpster fire? On the latest episode of Drama in Detroit, Red Wings fans are upset over a… LinkedIn post? Bob Duff breaks down why the Detroit faithful are not happy with President, Governor, and Red Wings CEO Chris Ilitch’s LinkedIn post.
