Seattle Kraken News & Notes

Seattle dropped a 3-1 decision in Edmonton on Oct. 3, outshot 25-20 and buried by a penalty-filled first period that included a Ryan Lindgren fight with Trent Frederic and a slashing minor on goaltender Philipp Grubauer. Bobby McMann’s second-period power-play goal, assisted by Jordan Eberle and Chandler Stephenson, was the only Kraken answer. Leon Draisaitl broke the tie at 17:33 before Connor McDavid added an empty-netter. Grubauer stopped 22 of 24, and Seattle blocked 18 shots.

The defense corps took a hit this week. Lindgren left the Oct. 6 home game against Vegas with an upper-body injury and has been ruled out four to six weeks, with the Kraken placing him on injured reserve. That game ended in a 6-2 loss.

Detroit Red Wings News & Notes

Simon Edvinsson remains the central storyline in Detroit. The 23-year-old restricted free agent has yet to dress this season as contract talks drag on, and Pierre LeBrun reported that roughly 10 teams, Boston among them, have inquired about the left-shot defenseman. Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff has told those clubs his preference is still to re-sign Edvinsson. The sixth overall pick in 2021 has 60 points, 19 goals and 41 assists, in 175 career games with a plus-17 rating. Detroit is also managing a trade request from captain Dylan Larkin.

The Red Wings made two roster moves Thursday, activating defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker from injured reserve and placing forward JT Compher on IR retroactive to Oct. 4. Bernard-Docker had been on IR since Sept. 28 with an upper-body injury. Compher, who did not skate Wednesday, is considered day-to-day and could return as early as Tuesday against New Jersey. Detroit now carries eight active defensemen. The club picked up its first win of 2026-27 on Tuesday, a 5-3 decision over Ottawa.

Players To Watch

Jared McCann — Seattle Kraken

McCann fired seven shots last time out and buried one of them, and the underlying work backs the volume: Box Score Junkie has him at 54.2% Corsi-for with 55.1 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date in 2026-27. With one goal on 1.1 expected, he’s due. Shots-on-goal props look live.

Lucas Raymond — Detroit Red Wings

Raymond set up three goals last game and put six shots on net himself. Box Score Junkie’s 2026-27 numbers love him: 64.7% Corsi-for and a team-best 81.0 shot attempts for per 60. He’s still at zero goals on 0.8 expected, so the finishing should follow the playmaking soon.
