ST. LOUIS – Now one week into the new St. Louis Blues season, fans still cannot watch games on DIRECTV or Comcast due to a TV deal dispute.
The St. Louis Blues shared a news release Friday announcing their new TV broadcast platform, Blue Note+, is available on Spectrum, Fubo and Prime Video, but no other cable or streaming services.
In that same announcement, the Blues said, “DIRECTV / Uverse and Comcast have declined to accept the same fair market deal terms that have been agreed upon by other providers.”
The National Hockey League, on behalf of the Blues, has offered DIRECTV and Comcast the same cost and deal terms accepted by Spectrum and Fubo.
The Blues say they have been at bargaining table for months with their current offer. DIRECTV and Comcast have not agreed to that offer.
In the news release, the Blues criticized where things stand between offering Blue Note+ broadcasts on DIRECTV and Comcast with the following remarks:
“It is a common negotiating strategy for major broadcast distributors to utilize the start of a season as a negotiating tactic. Other tactics include falsely claiming that their customers do not want their hometown team’s broadcast despite fan feedback and anger or claiming a deal is imminent hoping fans will not seek alternatives.”
The Blues say they remain willing to offer DIRECTV and Comcast the same terms accepted by Spectrum and Fubo, though it’s unclear if either provider will agree to those terms and if any other potential negotiations for a TV deal are underway.
For now, Blue Note+ is still offered on:
Prime Video: With subscriptions of $19.99 per month of $99.99 annually
Fubo TV: With subscriptions starting at $88.99 after one month.
Spectrum: With a traditional cable package.
