Tamaqua 2, Pottsville 1

In Pottsville, Joey Vidzicki snapped a 1-all tie at the 28:24 mark of the first half and the Lady Raiders (10-6, 7-4 Schuylkill League Division 1) held on for their sixth straight win.

After Heidi McGinley’s unassisted goal gave the Lady Tide an early lead, Tamaqua’s Avery Muffley answered just 38 seconds later with the equalizer off a Vidzicki corner kick. Vidizicki then knocked in her tie-breaking tally a little more than 10 minutes later and the Lady Raiders went on nail down no worse than a spot in a tiebreaker for a league playoff spot. They must wait to see what happens during the rest of the week to see their playoff fate.

Winning goalkeeper Sophia Sitlinger was stingy after giving Pottsville’s only goal, finishing with eight saves. The Lady Tide’s Lucille Dougherty made three stops.
