The Boston Bruins have rediscovered their scoring touch. Now they have an opportunity to settle an increasingly frustrating matchup against one of the NHL’s most intriguing young teams.

Boston visits the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night at 11 p.m. ET, opening a four-game road trip following consecutive victories over Utah and Philadelphia.

The Bruins defeated the Mammoth 6-1 before handling the Flyers 5-1, outscoring their opponents 11-2 across those two games. That offensive production represents an encouraging development for a team that experienced early-season inconsistency.

However, San Jose has created problems for Boston recently. The Sharks have won the last three meetings between the clubs, including both games during the 2025-26 season.

Tuesday provides an opportunity for the Bruins to change that trend.

Celebrini Makes San Jose Dangerous

The Sharks feature one of hockey’s most exciting young players in Macklin Celebrini. The former Boston University standout has rapidly established himself as a centerpiece of San Jose’s rebuilding efforts. Celebrini recorded 115 points during the 2025-26 season and has become one of the league’s most recognizable young stars.

His combination of speed, vision and offensive creativity creates problems for opposing defenses. However, Celebrini has also appeared on the injury report with a lower-body issue, making his availability worth monitoring ahead of Tuesday’s contest.

San Jose enters the matchup at 3-2 after losing 3-1 to Edmonton on Saturday. The Sharks have demonstrated an ability to compete in close games, earning three overtime victories during their first five contests.

That makes Boston’s defensive discipline particularly important.

Bruins Need to Carry Momentum West

David Pastrnak remains the focal point of Boston’s offense. The Bruins star contributed two power-play goals against Utah and enters Tuesday with seven points through six games. Boston also received a balanced offensive effort against Philadelphia, with 11 different players recording points.

That kind of production reduces the pressure on Pastrnak to generate nearly every dangerous scoring opportunity.

Jeremy Swayman has provided another encouraging sign. The Bruins goaltender enters the matchup with a 4-1 record, a 1.79 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage. Those numbers give Boston an advantage if Tuesday develops into another close contest.

The Bruins are 4-2 overall and have an opportunity to build a three-game winning streak before continuing their California trip. Games against Anaheim and Los Angeles follow, making Tuesday an important opening test. Boston’s recent offensive improvement is encouraging, but sustained success requires consistency away from TD Garden.

The Sharks have enjoyed the upper hand in this matchup recently. The Bruins now have an opportunity to change that while continuing their strongest stretch of the season.
