The NHL has fined Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jake Walman $10,000 for two separate incidents during his team’s 6-1 loss Monday to the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at Amerant Bank Arena.

Walman, the former Detroit Red Wing, was fined $5,000 each for roughing Matthew Tkachuk and for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The fines were the maximum allowable under the CBA.

Walman first sprayed water towards Florida’s bench late in the second period. It was in response to A.J. Greer taking Walman’s glove off during a collision and tossing it into the benches.

“I obviously did that for a reason,” Walman told media after the game. “Won’t go into the details, just gamesmanship, I guess. I’ve just got to realize there’s cameras everywhere and they see that stuff.”

The second incident happened with 5:16 remaining in the third period when Walman received a pair of roughing penalties an unsportsmanlike conduct call for his part in a scuffle involving Tkachuk.

The Panthers lead the series 2-1 heading into Game 4 Thursday in Florida (8 p.m., TNT).
