Minnesota Wild News & Notes
Minnesota opened its road trip with a 4-3 overtime loss in Edmonton on Oct. 20, undone by special teams. The Wild went 0-for-3 on the power play and surrendered three goals on five Oilers chances, including Evan Bouchard’s winner 3:32 into overtime that followed a too-many-men penalty. Kirill Kaprizov and Ryan Hartman scored in the third period to erase a two-goal deficit. Jesper Wallstedt stopped 28 of 32 shots. Minnesota won 55.2 percent of its faceoffs but committed 20 giveaways.
The trip to Calgary continues a stretch away from home that began with a 5-2 loss in Winnipeg on Oct. 13, the second half of a back-to-back. Kaprizov scored twice in the first period, the second on a Quinn Hughes point shot, before the Jets took over. Minnesota managed three shots in the second period after leading 13-7 on the shot clock, and Cole Perfetti’s power-play goal put Winnipeg ahead for good.
Calgary Flames News & Notes
Calgary’s forward group has been reshuffled in the past few days. Mikael Backlund is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and Sam Honzek has been placed on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the Flames recalled Ben Jones from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, bringing up a forward who had been producing at that level. The club also made what were described as intriguing lineup decisions ahead of its meeting with the Hurricanes.
Head coach Ryan Huska’s standing has become a talking point, with oddsmakers moving him up the list of coaches under pressure following Calgary’s early-season results. Joel Farabee, meanwhile, has been publicly put on notice about a possible trade, and there has been speculation the organization could be lining up another significant roster shake-up. Off the ice, the Flames have teased gold-heavy “Hometown Remix” uniforms. The Wranglers lost a third-period lead in Ontario and dropped a second straight game.

Players To Watch
Joel Eriksson Ek — Minnesota Wild
Eriksson Ek fired eight shots in 22:45 last time out and scored once, and the underlying work backs it up: Box Score Junkie has him at 64.3% Corsi-for with 78.2 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date. He’s also two goals on 6.5 expected, so the shots-on-goal prop looks like the safer play than the goal.
Yegor Sharangovich — Calgary Flames
Sharangovich put six shots on net in 16:42 last game and buried one of them. Box Score Junkie credits him with a 57.6% Corsi-for and 72.0 shot attempts for per 60 through the 2026-27 season so far, with two goals on 2.0 expected. No luck inflating that, just steady volume worth a shots-prop look.
