According to Michael Russo, a trade involving Dylan Larkin could be coming soon after a conference call with the Detroit Red Wings.
Russo pointed to growing trade speculation and suggested a resolution could be near. He didn’t reveal which team was involved in the call or what was discussed.
So there’s nothing confirming the Canadiens are involved.
According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Larkin still hasn’t added Montreal to his list of ten approved destinations. At least, not yet!
Dylan Larkin’s no-trade clause remains the biggest obstacle for the Montreal Canadiens
Remember, Larkin can block any trade.
Pierre LeBrun reported earlier this week that people close to Larkin see Montreal as a good fit. That doesn’t change his list, but it keeps the possibility alive.
At 4-3-2, the Canadiens clearly need help down the middle.
Russo covers the Minnesota Wild, who are reportedly on Larkin’s list, as Marco D’Amico previously reported.
But Russo didn’t mention any specific team this time… Interesting!
For Montreal, any potential surprise ultimately comes down to one person: Dylan Larkin.
“I think it’s gonna happen soon. Like, I am under the impression, from multiple sources, that there was a conference call with the Red Wings the other day. I think there’s a lot of rumors out there that it’s getting close.”
– Michael Russo
The situation appears close to a resolution, and Montreal is waiting to see how it unfolds.
