San Jose Sharks News & Notes
San Jose opened a six-game road trip on Oct. 15 with a shootout win in Nashville, playing without defenseman Darnell Nurse. Nurse was hurt in a third-period fight with Boston’s Nikita Zadorov during a 6-3 loss to the Bruins, going down awkwardly at the end of the bout. The team listed the injury as undisclosed and has not provided a diagnosis or timeline, though reports indicate the Sharks avoided the worst-case scenario. Nurse skated the morning of the Nashville game but did not dress.
Nurse appeared in San Jose’s first six games, recording a goal, 12 shots, 12 blocked shots and eight hits after arriving from Edmonton in the trade that sent Shakir Mukhamadullin the other way. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic made 32 saves in the win over the Predators. Elsewhere on the roster, the Sharks placed forward Alex Barre-Boulet on waivers earlier this month with the intent of assigning him to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. Barre-Boulet, signed to a two-year, two-way deal, missed preseason time with an injury.
Boston Bruins News & Notes
Michael DiPietro recorded his first career NHL shutout on Wednesday, stopping all 28 shots in Boston’s 6-0 win over Nashville at TD Garden. The backup is 2-1-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage this season, carrying over form from a Les Cunningham Award-winning campaign in Providence, where he went 34-8-1 with a 1.91 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
Boston signed Marat Khusnutdinov to a three-year extension worth $3.95 million annually, keeping him through 2029-30. Acquired from Minnesota at the 2025 deadline for Justin Brazeau, the 24-year-old has two goals and three assists in 10 games while leading Bruins forwards in shorthanded ice time at 2:13 per night. Marco Sturm has used him on the second line’s left side.

Players To Watch
Macklin Celebrini — San Jose Sharks
Celebrini is the one Shark driving play and finishing. Box Score Junkie has him at 56.3% Corsi-for this season with 66.6 shot attempts for per 60 and 58.1% Fenwick across 205 minutes, plus 6.1 high-danger xG with him on the ice. He has six goals on 4.3 expected, so the finishing is outrunning the chances.
David Pastrnak — Boston Bruins
Pastrnak put up two goals and two assists on three shots in 16:37 last time out, so every shift is worth watching. Teammates fed off it: Charlie McAvoy had four assists and Pavel Zacha two. If the Bruins get that top-six look again, Pastrnak is the obvious anytime-scorer play.
