Carolina Hurricanes News & Notes
Carolina’s forward group has thinned out considerably. The Hurricanes placed Taylor Hall on injured reserve Monday with an upper-body injury suffered October 13 against Washington, a problem Rod Brind’Amour described as week-to-week. Captain Jordan Staal is expected to miss one to two months after partially tearing a calf muscle during a pregame warm-up, and Mark Jankowski is also unavailable.
To fill the gaps, Carolina recalled Bradly Nadeau and Felix Unger Sorum from Chicago, both 2023 draft picks taken 30th and 63rd overall. Nadeau has 115 points in 120 AHL games and added 17 points during last spring’s Calder Cup Final run. The defending champions won six straight before falling Sunday, including a 3-2 decision in Winnipeg where Jankowski extended his goal streak to six games and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 21 shots. The five-game trip concludes Saturday.
St. Louis Blues News & Notes
The Blues sit in the middle of a five-game homestand and host Carolina on Friday after taking the first two games, averaging four goals while allowing 1.5. St. Louis opened with a 2-1 win over Winnipeg on Tuesday, with Jimmy Snuggerud and Philip Broberg scoring and Broberg getting the winner, then beat Vegas 6-2 on Thursday. Pavel Buchnevich scored on the power play, Justin Barron added his first goal as a Blue, and Mason McTavish scored his team-leading sixth. Joel Hofer started in net.
The roster has churned. St. Louis recalled defenseman Quinton Burns from Springfield on Thursday after assigning Theo Lindstein back to the Thunderbirds; Burns has an assist and 29 penalty minutes in seven AHL games and would make his NHL debut. Zach Dean was placed on waivers for assignment to Springfield, and Dylan Peterson was returned after three games. Ross Johnston is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, which prompted Otto Stenberg’s recall, while Alexey Toropchenko is out six weeks with an upper-body injury.

Players To Watch
Sebastian Aho — Carolina Hurricanes
Aho comes off a goal and an assist on three shots in 22:06 last time out, and the underlying work backs it up. Box Score Junkie has him at 67.1% Corsi-for this season with 82.4 shot attempts for per 60 and seven goals on 5.3 expected, a plus-1.7 finishing edge worth a point prop look.
Jimmy Snuggerud — St. Louis Blues
Snuggerud had a goal and an assist on just one shot last game, and he keeps converting: Box Score Junkie’s 2026-27 numbers show six goals on 3.0 expected, a plus-3.0 gap, with a modest 52.5% Corsi-for. The volume is ordinary, so the finishing is the angle — anytime scorer, not shots.
