Lightning vs. Mammoth Gameday
The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Utah Mammoth on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET. The game is available on The Spot in Tampa Bay, Utah 16 in Utah and ESPN+ for eligible out-of-market viewers.
Jon Cooper’s Lightning enter 7-3-0 after splitting the first two games of their Western road trip. They’re 2-2-0 away from home and face a quick turnaround following Friday’s game in Colorado.
There’s no leisurely recovery day on this itinerary.
Tampa Bay has the experience, but Utah gets the scheduling advantage in a matchup of fast-starting clubs.
André Tourigny’s Mammoth are 7-4-0 and tied near the top of the Central Division. They’ve gone 3-1-0 at home, giving them another reason to welcome a visiting club finishing a road trip. Utah will be looking to rebound from a frustrating loss in Seattle.
Both teams have collected 14 standings points. That’s a respectable start, although neither coach will be handing out October trophies.
This is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Utah Mammoth Odds & Previous Games
Utah opened at -143 on the moneyline, with Tampa Bay at +120. The Lightning are +1.5 at -205 on the puck line, while the Mammoth are -1.5 at +166. The opening total is 6.5 goals.
Tampa Bay defeated Vegas 6-2, Vancouver 4-2 and Seattle 4-3. Its recent defeats came against Colorado 6-3 and the Rangers 4-1.
The Lightning have been competitive, but the Rangers and Avalanche exposed some defensive lapses.
Utah beat Pittsburgh 5-4, Edmonton 4-2 and Toronto 5-4. The Mammoth also lost to Seattle 5-3 and Edmonton 6-2.
Tampa Bay won both meetings last season, taking the first 4-2 and the second 2-0. The Lightning are 3-1-0 against Utah since the franchise relocated to Salt Lake City.
The visitors have the recent head-to-head advantage. Utah gets its first chance to reverse that trend Saturday.
Mammoth Stats
Utah has scored 41 goals through 11 games, averaging 3.73 per contest. The Mammoth have also generated 76 assists, reflecting an attack that moves the puck effectively. Their offensive depth has made them difficult to contain.
Clayton Keller leads the club with 14 points, while Nick Schmaltz and Mikhail Sergachev have 13 apiece. Logan Cooley gives Tourigny another dangerous scoring threat.
There’s plenty of skill throughout this lineup.
Utah’s power play has converted 38.5% of its opportunities, the best rate in the NHL. That efficiency makes careless penalties especially expensive for opponents.
Utah’s attack has delivered, but the defensive results haven’t matched its ability to control possession.
The Mammoth have allowed 36 goals, averaging 3.27 per game. They’ve limited opponents to relatively few shots, yet too many quality chances have ended up in the net.
Utah has also struggled on the penalty kill, operating at 66.7%.
Better defensive-zone coverage and fewer penalties would make this club considerably tougher to beat.
Lightning Stats
Tampa Bay has scored 34 goals through ten games, averaging 3.4 per contest. The Lightning have generated 302 shots, and their skilled forwards continue to create quality opportunities.
Brandon Hagel leads the club with seven goals and 13 points. Nikita Kucherov also has 13 points, including nine assists. Jake Guentzel has added six goals and five assists.
That’s a dangerous group even on a difficult travel schedule.
The Lightning have allowed 26 goals, averaging 2.6 per contest. Their defensive structure has generally been dependable, although Friday’s result showed what happens when coverage breaks down.
Tampa Bay’s power play has converted 12.9% of its chances. That’s a disappointing return for a club with this much offensive talent.
Anthony Cirelli and Brayden Point provide valuable two-way depth down the middle.
Their defensive responsibilities are particularly important against opponents with several dangerous scoring lines.
Lightning vs. Mammoth Goaltending Matchup
Utah’s goaltending has been an early concern despite the team’s winning record. The Mammoth have struggled to turn their defensive shot suppression into strong save percentages. Better work in the crease would make their overall numbers much more impressive.
Karel Vejmelka has handled most of the workload, while Sebastian Cossa has also appeared. Both have experienced uneven results.
Neither can afford another difficult outing against Tampa Bay’s shooters.
The Lightning have Andrei Vasilevskiy and Dennis Hildeby available as their primary goaltending options. Vasilevskiy remains the established veteran, but the back-to-back schedule makes a change possible.
Neither Saturday starter was officially confirmed at the time of this preview. The final assignments will matter because both clubs can generate dangerous scoring chances.
Tampa Bay has generally provided its goaltenders with more dependable defensive support. Utah has relied more heavily on its offensive production to overcome mistakes.

”
The Mammoth must limit second chances around their crease. Tampa Bay’s forwards are particularly effective when they can attack rebounds and loose pucks.
The Lightning need cleaner defensive-zone exits against Utah’s forecheck. Failed clearing attempts can leave tired defenders chasing the puck for extended stretches.
Both clubs have enough scoring talent to exploit poor positioning.
Staying organized when possession changes will be a major challenge for each defense.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Utah Mammoth bottom line: Utah’s offensive depth faces a disciplined Tampa Bay team whose demanding travel schedule adds another layer to this Western Conference matchup.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Utah Mammoth Hockey Betting Trends
The Utah Mammoth have a record of 2 wins and 3 losses in their last five games.
In their last five games, Utah has gone over the total in four games.
Last season, the Mammoth had a straight-up record of 5 wins and 5 losses in games decided by one goal.
Also, the Tampa Bay Lightning have a record of 3 wins and 2 losses in their last five games.
In their last five games, Tampa Bay has gone over the total in three games.
Last season, the Lightning had a straight-up record of 7 wins and 3 losses in games where they scored four or more goals.
Lightning Mammoth Free Pick: Over 6.5
Here is my Lightning Mammoth free pick: Over 6.5. Tampa Bay is playing on consecutive nights, and Utah has had an extra day to recover. That’s a lousy scheduling spot for a Lightning team facing a dangerous attack.
The Mammoth have gone over in four of their last five, while Tampa Bay has done it three times in five games. Both clubs have enough finishing talent to turn a couple of defensive mistakes into goals.
Seven goals isn’t asking for a miracle here.
I like this total because neither team needs a perfect offensive night to push it over.
Utah has allowed at least four goals in three of its last four games. Tampa Bay can punish that kind of defending, even if its legs aren’t particularly fresh.
One team gets ahead, the other has to chase, and the scoring opportunities should follow. Give me Over 6.5.
