Colorado Avalanche News & Notes

The Avalanche snapped a two game skid with a 6-3 victory over the Lightning on Friday night. Colorado got four points from Nathan MacKinnon and three points from Martin Necas in the win.

Colorado activated Logan O’Connor from injured reserve this week, returning the forward to the lineup, and recalled Taylor Makar from the AHL’s Colorado Eagles in a corresponding move ahead of the club’s meeting with Tampa Bay. Makar, the younger brother of defenseman Cale Makar, rejoins the NHL roster from Loveland. The two transactions were announced together, giving the Avalanche reinforcement up front after a stretch in which the forward group had been shuffled repeatedly through recalls and reassignments.

Nashville Predators News & Notes

The Predators reshaped their blue line again this week. Nashville claimed defenseman Daemon Hunt off waivers from the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 23, and placed Jack Ahcan on waivers the same day to make room. Hunt, a Brandon, Manitoba, product and a former Wild third-round pick, was not the only defenseman on the wire that day; Jack St. Ivany was claimed by the Washington Capitals.

Nashville becomes Hunt’s third NHL organization. Minnesota traded him to Columbus in late 2024 as part of the package that brought defenseman David Jiricek to the Wild, and his stay with the Blue Jackets lasted a little more than a year before Minnesota claimed him back off waivers. That makes this the second time in roughly a year that Hunt has changed teams through the waiver wire, and he now faces a division rival that valued him enough to reacquire him once.

Cale Makar — Colorado Avalanche

Box Score Junkie has Makar at a 59.0% Corsi-for and 56.9% Fenwick through 220 minutes this season, with 73.9 shot attempts for per 60 and 6.7 high-danger expected goals generated while he’s on the ice. He’s also buried three goals on 1.7 expected, so the shooting matches the territorial edge.

Steven Stamkos — Nashville Predators

Stamkos scored on three shots in 19:00 last time out, and Box Score Junkie’s 2026-27 numbers back the finishing: four goals on 3.0 expected, plus 5.0 high-danger xG with him on the ice.
