The Boston Bruins scored four times in the third period, handing the San Jose Sharks a 6-4 loss to complete their six-game road trip.

The Sharks finish the road trip with a 3-2-1 record, which is good, but they left points on the table. The Sharks led in the third period, but two goals in 36 seconds against killed that lead.

Boston has won four straight home games and got goals from six different players: Casey Mittelstadt, Marat Khusnutdinov, David Pastrnak, James Hagens, Fraser Minten, and Will Borgen. Jeremy Swayman made 21 saves.

Dmitry Orlov, Kiefer Sherwood, Michael Misa, and Will Smith scored for the Sharks. Alex Nedeljkovic made 29 saves. Special teams were good for Team Teal, but not good enough. They scored two power-play goals and one shorthanded goal.

Puck-watching was a major issue for the Sharks all night, directly leading to at least four goals against. Defenders all over the ice lost the man they were covering, and the opponent scored. Mental lapses like that can’t happen regularly, like they did tonight.

1st period

Mittelstadt gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 3:08 of the first period. After a mad scramble around the net, Mittelstadt found a loose puck and tapped it by Nedeljkovic.

Misa tied the game at one with a power-play goal at 5:52. Adam Gaudette tipped a Tyler Toffoli shot to the net, and the puck found Misa at the left post. He caught it, moved to the backhand, and put it into the open net.

2nd period

Khusnutdinov put the Bruins up 2-1 over the San Jose Sharks at 8:20 of the second period. Khusnutdinov got the puck in front and roofed a backhand shot over Nedeljkovic.

Sherwood tied the game at two with a shorthanded goal at 13:34. After he stole the puck in the neutral zone, Sherwood raced in and beat Swayman over the blocker.

3rd period

Orlov gave the San Jose Sharks their first lead of the game, 3-2, with a power-play goal at 4:03 of the third period. Mason Marchment fed Ivar Stenberg at the left point, and after he drew the defensemen in, he gave the puck to Orlov for a one-timer off Swayman’s glove.

Pastrnak tied the game at 3 with a shot that Nedeljkovic will want back. After Pastrnak exited the penalty box, he got the puck on the left wing and beat Nedeljkovic by the blocker.

36 seconds later, Hagens gave the Bruins the lead after getting behind the Sharks’ defenders.

Minten added to the Bruins’ lead, making it 5-3.

Smith made it 5-4 after Macklin Celebrini danced around defenders.

Will Borgen scored an empty-net goal to make it 6-4 and seal the win.
