Philadelphia Flyers News & Notes
Philadelphia fell 4-3 in overtime to Columbus on Tuesday, a night that began with the Flyers trailing by three goals before they climbed back to force the extra period. Kent Johnson scored his second of the game to decide it, finishing a comeback of Columbus’ own after the Blue Jackets surrendered that three-goal cushion. Head coach Rick Tocchet called the slow start “pretty unacceptable” afterward, pointing to a first period that undid the work of the rally.
Washington Capitals News & Notes
Washington added depth on the blue line by claiming defenseman Jack St. Ivany off waivers from Winnipeg on Oct. 24. The 27-year-old had been placed on waivers by the Jets the previous day, part of a round of roster moves that also included putting Vladislav Namestnikov on injured reserve and assigning Brayden Yager. St. Ivany, a former Penguin, came to Winnipeg in the trade that sent David Gustafsson to Pittsburgh. He called the claim “kind of a dream” and said he was through-the-roof excited.
The Capitals have granted winger Ivan Miroshnichenko permission to seek a trade, according to a report, though the club is said to be seeking a legitimate return before moving the former first-round pick. Jakob Chychrun missed practice on Oct. 26. Coach Spencer Carbery put the responsibility for the uneven start on himself, saying the team has been good offensively and not good defensively.

Players To Watch
Trevor Zegras — Philadelphia Flyers
Zegras is coming off a goal and an assist on three shots in 20:47 last time out, and he’s the rare Flyer driving play: Box Score Junkie has him at 51.5% Corsi-for with 60.0 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date. With Konecny and Tippett out, expect heavy usage and a points-prop look.
Dylan Strome — Washington Capitals
Strome put up two goals and an assist on five shots in 20:59 his last time out, and the underlying work backs it. Box Score Junkie has him at a team-best 57.8% Corsi-for and 58.3% Fenwick this season to date, with 68.0 shot attempts for per 60. A shots-on-goal or points prop is defensible.
