St. Louis Blues News & Notes

The Blues picked up an impressive 4-1 over the Bruins on Thursday night to wrap up their five game homestand. During the homestand they went 3-2-0, averaging 2.4 goals per game while allowing two goals per game.

Joel Hofer stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced in Thursday’s win. Robert Thomas and Phillip Broberg each had a goal and two assists. The Blues power-play ranks eighth in the NHL at 25.7% and the penalty kill is sixth at 85.3%.

Detroit Red Wings News & Notes

Detroit suspended Dylan Larkin without pay on Oct. 29 after general manager Shawn Horcoff said the captain’s agent informed the team he would no longer play for the Red Wings. Larkin will remain away from the club until a trade is completed, and the team has said it is prepared to wait as long as necessary. He finished with six points in 10 games this season and 649 points in 818 games with Detroit.

The Red Wings answered with a 4-1 home win over Chicago hours after the suspension. Viktor Arvidsson recorded a hat trick against the team that signed Patrick Kane in the offseason, and John Gibson stopped 18 of 19 shots in his return to the net after backing up in Edmonton. Simon Edvinsson’s contract situation and trade request also remain unresolved, with San Jose reportedly making a serious offer and Boston among the teams expressing interest.

Players To Watch

Jimmy Snuggerud — St. Louis Blues

Snuggerud scored on two shots in 15:18 last time out, and Box Score Junkie has him at 54.0% Corsi-for with 61.8 shot attempts for per 60 this season to date — the best possession mark among Blues regulars. He’s also at seven goals on 3.6 expected, a +3.4 finishing gap that’s worth monitoring for regression.

Lucas Raymond — Detroit Red Wings

Raymond scored on two shots last game and drives play as well as anyone here: Box Score Junkie credits him with 64.7% Corsi-for and 78.2 shot attempts for per 60 across 266 minutes this season to date. Six goals on 5.2 expected says the finishing is sustainable, and Larkin’s absence should mean more usage.
