Ottawa Senators News & Notes
The forward group keeps thinning. Ottawa placed Warren Foegele on injured reserve Friday after he absorbed a knee-on-knee hit, and the club recalled Philip Tomasino and Xavier Bourgault from AHL Belleville to fill the openings. Andre Burakovsky also left a game with an upper-body injury earlier in the week. The moves leave the Senators leaning on call-ups through a stretch of the schedule that has already forced repeated lineup changes up front.
Hayden Hodgson was suspended two games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for charging and boarding Kings defenceman Brandt Clarke, a ruling that drew debate over its length. That game in Los Angeles on October 29 ended 6-5 for the Kings in overtime after they surrendered a four-goal third-period lead. Ottawa continues the California portion of the trip in San Jose, with the defensive structure among the areas the staff has flagged for cleanup.
San Jose Sharks News & Notes
The Sharks have been linked to Detroit defenseman Simon Edvinsson, with reports indicating San Jose has held extensive talks with the Red Wings about the restricted free agent and has made what one insider described as a serious offer. Detroit is said to be seeking a young center in return, with Michael Misa and Will Smith surfacing in connection to the discussions. San Jose is reported to be one of several clubs taking a long look at Edvinsson. Nothing has been completed.
San Jose rallied for a comeback win over Vancouver in its 14th game of the season, a result the club framed as a starting point rather than a resolution, with consistency the larger test going forward. Ottawa arrives at SAP Center shorthanded after a suspension thinned its lineup. The Sharks also have an off-ice item on the calendar: the team’s hometown remix jerseys are scheduled to debut in November.

Players To Watch
Tim Stützle — Ottawa Senators
Stützle piled up three assists in 22:21 last time out, and Box Score Junkie’s 2026-27 numbers back the drive: 52.1% Corsi-for, 53.7% Fenwick and 56.9 shot attempts for per 60 across 308 minutes. He’s also buried nine goals on 3.8 expected, so the finishing is running hot. An assist prop stays live.
Macklin Celebrini — San Jose Sharks
Celebrini fired six shots and set one up over 22:56 in his last outing, and Box Score Junkie has him at 56.8% Corsi-for and 57.9% Fenwick this season, with 66.8 attempts for per 60 and 7.5 high-danger xG generated in 275 minutes. Volume like that makes shots-on-goal props the obvious angle.
