Now, the Stars will have to adapt to a new voice on the bench and possibly significant changes to the roster. According to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, that includes fielding trade calls on several notable names.
Pagnotta reported that the Stars are listening to offers on forwards Jason Robertson and Mason Marchment, along with defenseman Matt Dumba.
While both Robertson and Marchment are generating interest, sources told Pagnotta that Dallas would prefer to move Marchment over Robertson.
“Numerous reports have indicated star winger Jason Robertson is in play for the Stars, and TFP’s David Pagnotta has confirmed that teams have been inquiring about his potential availability and the Stars have been willing to listen,” TFP reported. “The Stars, according to Pagnotta, are also taking calls on forward Mason Marchment, who has a $4.5 million cap hit.

“According to multiple sources, the Stars prefer to move Marchment over Robertson and may also be dangling defenseman Matt Dumba.”
Robertson tallied 35 goals and 45 assists this past season, while Marchment recorded 22 goals and 25 assists.

Making a move more probable is the fact that the Stars are also dealing with cap space limitations, holding just under $5 million in cap space entering the offseason.
Robertson, still just 25 years old, is entering the final season of a four-year, $31 million contract and will be due a significant raise in 2026.
Marchment, 29, is in a similar situation, earning $4.5 million next season, his last one under contract. Meanwhile, Dumba will also be playing through his contract year, albeit at a lower $3.75 million cap hit.
