An insider has linked the Vancouver Canucks to one of their former players, who is expected to land on the trade block and potentially be dealt out of Seattle this summer.
Former Vancouver Canucks forward linked to his former club
This week, a new ‘Trade Watch List’ was released by NHL insider David Pagnotta and The Fourth Period, which featured several prominent names including Erik Karlsson, Mason Marchment, Marco Rossi, J.J. Peterka, among others. At 15th on their list is Jared McCann, a former Vancouver Canucks who was selected 24th overall by the club in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
According to The Fourth Period, McCann could be dealt this summer, but has a ten-team no-trade list, which complicates things a little bit for interested teams.
The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to their former player by The Fourth Period, along with the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers, both of whom would like to add some scoring to their lineup.
“With two more years left on his contract, McCann is an attractive add for teams looking to add more scoring punch to their lineup. He has a 10-team no-trade list and has some say in where he winds up, if the Kraken decide to trade him.
Teams reportedly Linked:
Vancouver, Ottawa, NY Rangers”
McCann, a native of Stratford, Ontario, had yet another solid year with the Seattle Kraken, registering his third consecutive 60-point campaign with the club, who acquired him in the NHL Expansion Draft in 2021 from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In 82 games this season with Seattle, the 29-year-old put up 61 points (22 goals, 39 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a plus-eight.
Given the offensive production that Jared McCann has put up in each of the last three seasons, his $5 million cap hit is very reasonable and there’s no doubt he would be a great fit for the Vancouver Canucks.
