When the Florida Panthers won last year’s Stanley Cup, it was former goaltender and franchise great Roberto Luongo hyping up the crowd by banging the team’s drum before Game 7.

With a chance to make it back-to-back titles in Game 6 of this year’s Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday night at Amerant Bank Arena, it might just be Luongo on the drums again.

Luongo hinted he’ll be back at it with a post on X Monday evening. He wrote “Warming up in the bullpen,” with a gif of actor Will Ferrell wildly playing the drums in the movie “Step Brothers.”

The team has not yet officially announced the guest drummer for Tuesday night.

Luongo was incredibly enthusiastic when he violently pounded the drumstick into the oversized drum the Panthers use to rally fans before last year’s Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers won their first Stanley Cup later that June night in 2024. They have an opportunity to repeat Tuesday night, entering with a 3-2 series lead after Saturday night’s Game 5 win over the Oilers in Edmonton.

Luongo, a 2022 inductee into the Hockey Hall of Fame, spent 11 of his 19 NHL seasons with the Panthers. The five-time All-Star and three-time Vezina Trophy finalist currently serves as special advisor to general manager Bill Zito.

The Panthers often bring in guest drummers with ties to other South Florida sports teams to do the honors, with recent selections being Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, current defensive tackle Zach Sieler and Miami Heat forward-center Bam Adebayo.
