A Los Angeles reporter who was covering the No Kings protest from the air on Saturday started tracking the wrong conversation and started telling viewers secrets about his personal life.
Stu Mundel talked about everything from his separation from his wife to his feelings for bourbon while Fox 11 Los Angeles streamed his coverage to its YouTube channel.
“You know, I don’t care about my … I, uh, I am married. I am legally married. I am legally married,” he said. “That’s about the only way you can really say it,” Mundel said after a viewer asked about his relationship status.
He went on to say that he was actually separated from his wife and was not “looking for someone to date” because of “debacles” in his personal life.
“I want to be beholden to no one at this point. Do I get lonely? Of course. But I got cats,” he said.
According to his station bio, Mundel joined the LA Fox owned station in June 2020 as an aerial reporter providing live traffic and breaking news updates from SkyFox.
Around five thousand people tuned into the live stream at one point wondering if he was seeing the protest through bourbon flavored goggles.
Mundel acknowledged at one point, “I love bourbon,” he said. “I do. I do love the bourbon. I love the whiskey. I love the bourbon. Love the gin. Do love the gin. Alright, kids, we’re making our way to Torrance.”
He snapped at one viewer after she complained she wasn’t seeing enough of the protest. “Yes, Paloma, I know! It’s not a magic carpet,” he said. “I can do a lot of things, but I can’t bend space and time. Yet. Emma, same thing! We’re on our way! … Sandra? No, we’re not there yet. Three minutes.”
“To Fox 11, this is a pr disaster. For me, this guy should get a raise,” one commenter wrote.
