These days Dallas Stars fans are probably waiting around for the announcement of a new head coach.

Their goalie is doing a different kind of expecting.

Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger took to social media on Tuesday night with his wife, Kennedi, and announced that the two are expecting their first child.

A Stanley Cup champion is looking like it may be crowned later tonight, but in much more important hockey news, Jake Oettinger is going to be a dad.

“Coming soon,” the post from Kennedi Oettinger said, photo of baby bump included.

The 26-year-old Oettinger is coming off his fifth NHL season and his third straight run to the Western Conference finals, though all three attempts have fallen short. Oettinger signed an eight-year extension with the Stars in 2024.

This isn’t the first time Jake and Kennedi have kicked off the offseason with a big announcement, as the two announced their engagement shortly after the 2023 season ended. A year later, they were married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after the 2024 season wrapped.
