General manager Jim Nill kept his busy week rolling on Friday morning, signing one of the top scorers of the Dallas Stars’ AHL affiliate to a contract extension.
Forward Cameron Hughes, 28, signed to a new two-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced, after scoring 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists) in 69 regular season games with the Texas Stars. He matched his AHL career high in scoring and ranked third on his team in goals (tied), assists and points.
In 14 Calder Cup Playoff games this postseason, Hughes led Texas with 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists).
The six-foot, 183-pound forward has appeared in two NHL games, both with the Boston Bruins, and has spent the remainder of his career in the AHL.
