SALT LAKE CITY – Needing a spark after surrendering back-to-back goals, Utah Hockey Club’s Dylan Guenther blasted a power-play shot past Ville Husso to take a 3-2 lead.
Utah HC (28-25-11, 67 points) hosted the Anaheim Ducks (28-29-7, 63 points) at Delta Center on Wednesday, March 12. Utah opens the night fifth in the Western Conference Wild Card chase, three points behind the Calgary Flames for the final playoff spot in the West. Vancouver and St. Louis are between Utah and a playoff spot with 69 points.
Utah is 16-12-4 at home during its inaugural season, while Anaheim is 13-14-5 on the road. The Ducks are 2-0 against Utah this season, including a 5-4 shootout loss at Delta Center on December 22.

Clayton Keller found Mikhail Sergachev near the blue line with the PP winding down. Sergachev whipped a pass to Guenther, who unleashed a wicked one-timer that Husso never saw.
Utah HC had been easily the better team until late in the second period when Anaheim found life. A careless penalty from Sergachev sent the Ducks on the PP. Mason McTavish capitalized on the man advantage, beating Karel Vejmelka to tie the game with more than 16 minutes remaining.
Utah continues to lead 3-2 with 8:33 left.
