SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Hockey Club fought hard and nearly made a late comeback but fell just short in a 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues at Delta Center on Sunday.

St. Louis got on the board first late in the opening period. After over 30 minutes with no score, Utah was able to find an equalizer off of a faceoff. Itt didnt take too long for the Blues to strike again and they were able to hold their lead until the final horn.

Utah has lost five in a row and 10 of their last 14. With the win, St. Louis jumped Utah in the Central Division and Western Conference standings.

The Utah Hockey Club will have one more chance to get in the win column on their current homestand as they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, February 4.

Voting is already open at the Delta Center ahead of tonight’s game.

After seeing the logos again, it’s Mammoth by a wide margin 🦣

The branding overall is just so much better and would be a seamless transition.

Outlaws just doesn’t fit.#TusksUp🤘

Wild stick save from Ingram to keep the puck from crossing the line.

Chaos in front of the net that forced him down to the ice, but he made contact with the puck to make the stop.

Big save early on.

McBain dropped the gloves with Tyler Tucker.

Great scrap. McBain landed a few solid hits before both guys tumbled to the ice.

McBain did not like the hit he received from Tucker just before and decided to drop the gloves.

One of the better fights we’ve seen at Delta Center this season.

Good form from McBain. Kept a good grip on Tucker’s jerseys and landed a few decent blows. https://t.co/SkiYGzMiNm

Blues score to take a late lead in the first period.

1P: 2:19 | 1-0 St. Louis

— KSL Sports (@kslsports) February 3, 2025

Blues have been much more aggressive in this first period, and they were finally rewarded with a goal.

A suffocating forecheck created a turnover, they moved the puck well, generated traffic, and scored.

Utah needs some energy. https://t.co/3OB0BKjfOH

Blues are called for holding.

Underwhelming first period from Utah.

Not a lot of energy or fight.

Meanwhile, St. Louis looks desperate for a win. https://t.co/ym5syjTe4a

Is it just me or does this feel like the most intense and critical vote in the history of Utah? https://t.co/cfHc2vPI14

Just an absolute blast from deep.

Kerfoot with a huge open ice hit in the offensive zone & then Connor Ingram follows it up with a clutch glove save on a one-timer in close.

Different energy in this team than they’ve had all game.

Blues retake the lead 2-1.

Barrett Hayton just earned Utah a well-deserved power play.

He battled hard in front of the net and eventually drew an interference call against the Blues.

Critical power play down one with 11 minutes to go.

Clayton Keller just rattled one off the crossbar…he had Binnington totally beat but the pipe said no.

That one stings.

53 seconds left in the PP.

Utah back to the PP after Kesselring is tripped.
