That is, NHL icon and Chicago Blackhawks legend Jonathan Toews, whose signing with the Winnipeg Jets prompted the Leafs winger to celebrate the comeback.

That’d be former Blackhawks captain signed a one-year deal with the Jets earlier this week, and on Saturday, Domi shared a photo of him along with Toews celebrating a goal during their time together in Chicago.

Domi and Toews were teammates during the 2022-23 season in Chicago.

The current Leafs winger led the Blackhawks in total points (49) back in 2022-23, playing alongside Toews, who scored 31 points in 53 regular-season games.

For Toews, that year marked the end of a long tenure with the Blackhawks and the beginning of a difficult stretch after winning three Stanley Cup titles in the Windy City.

Toews stepped away from hockey due to long COVID and chronic inflammatory response syndrome, the same issues that sidelined him for the entire 2020-21 season.

Now 37, Toews returns to his hometown team with 1,067 games and 883 career points under his belt. The Jets made the deal official Thursday and will finalize it on July 1, once the new league year kicks off.

“It’s very special to come home and play in front of my family and friends in Manitoba,” Toews said in the team’s press release.
