According to DailyFaceOff, New York Rangers defenseman K’Andre Miller shouldn’t expect a significant raise for his next qualifying offer. With 12-15 teams interested in Miller, how much should we expect him to get for his next deal?
The New York Rangers own the rights to K’Andre Miller, but with a retool that is ongoing, and reports that the team doesn’t want to sign him, what will happen?
For the team to retain his rights before a trade, they will have to tender a qualifying offer to the RFA defenseman. He would have until July 15th to accept it; if not, he’d be an RFA who is free to negotiate with other teams.
That is a logical scenario that could play out for K’Andre Miller, as it seems the Rangers aren’t interested in signing him to the term he’s looking for on his new deal with the team.
Instead of pushing him to UFA status, they want a shorter deal, much like we’ve seen on other “prove it” or bridge deals.
At the moment, despite his lackluster performance in 2024-25, Miller is still drawing the interest of 12-15 NHL teams.
While he only posted 27 points (7-20) in 75 games this season, at only 25, he still has plenty of upside for the next team to continue to develop.
He’s played as a top-four defenseman the majority of his career and could continue on that path if the fit is right.
He’s a 6’5″ defenseman, with some physicality (though he didn’t show much of it this season) and an offensive touch that another team could fit into their lineup.
