Detroit Red Wings’ Lucas Raymond on missing playoffs again

Detroit Red Wings’ Lucas Raymond, April 19, 2025 in Detroit.

Todd McLellan will have plenty of exhibition games to put together his best lineup ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The Detroit Red Wings released their exhibition schedule Tuesday, June 24, and it features eight games, including the opener Sept. 23, at Little Caesars Arena against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wings haven’t released training camp dates yet, but they usually break camp on the Sunday before the preseason begins, after their annual Red-White scrimmage (which follows three days of on-ice drills and off-ice workouts and video sessions).

This is especially opportune for McLellan, who went from being hired on Dec. 26 to coaching on Dec. 27 last season, after general manager Steve Yzerman replaced Derek Lalonde with McLellan during the holiday break.
