MANCHESTER, N.H. —
On Tuesday, Bruins legend Zdeno Chara was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
Chara played 24 years in the NHL, including 14 seasons with the Bruins, serving as team captain for all of them.
The 6-foot-9 defenseman played in 1,023 games with Boston, scoring 148 goals and 333 assists for 481 points. He ranks eighth in franchise history in games played and third in points by a defenseman, trailing only Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque.

Chara was a six-time All-Star and helped lead the Bruins to a Stanley Cup title in 2011.
The 48-year-old will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Nov. 10 in Toronto.
Former Bruin Joe Thornton was also elected as part of the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.
