Las Vegas (KSNV) — More than 120 volunteers from Southwest Gas and the Vegas Golden Knights are set to construct 60 beds for families in need, in collaboration with the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP).
The event will take place on Saturday, February 22, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Doral Academy Red Rock Middle School/High School in Las Vegas.
The initiative is part of Southwest Gas’ employee volunteer program, BLUE – Building Lives Up Everywhere.
The program encourages employees to support local nonprofits and uplift communities.
In 2024, Southwest Gas employees volunteered over 4,000 hours across Nevada, Arizona, and California.

Justin Brown, president of Southwest Gas, said the event reflects the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement. “Partnerships with organizations such as SHP and the Vegas Golden Knights demonstrate our dedication to building strong, resilient communities,” Brown said.
Chris McDowell, president of the local SHP chapter, highlighted the importance of the event. “Nationally, SHP has more than 5,000 kids on their waiting list. This bed-building event helps bridge that gap, ensuring children in need have a proper place to sleep,” McDowell said.
Members of the Vegas Vivas, the dance team, and brand ambassadors for the Vegas Golden Knights, will also be present to support the cause.
Nick Trujillo, director of global partnerships for the Vegas Golden Knights, and Morgan White, senior manager of global partnership activations, will join the volunteers.
The Southwest Gas Foundation sponsors the event to empower employees to actively contribute to their neighbors’ well-being.
