PELL CITY, Ala. (WBMA) — PELHAM, Ala. — Pelham Parks & Recreation celebrated the grand opening of a new multi-use hockey and soccer court at City Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday evening.
The new court is designed to be a versatile space for youth sports practices, games, and community activities.
The city said the event marked a significant step in Pelham’s commitment to enhancing recreational programming and providing quality athletic facilities.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome from Parks & Recreation, followed by remarks from Mayor Gary Waters and members of the Pelham City Council.
After the ribbon cutting, council members participated in a friendly competition, demonstrating their skills in both hockey and soccer.
Youth athletes and coaches were also present to witness the event and help launch the season. “This court is more than just a space to play—it’s a symbol of how Pelham continues to invest in the health, fun, and development of our young athletes,” said Parks & Recreation Director Brian Cooper.
