MADISON (WQOW) – Beloit College will join the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for men’s and women’s hockey starting next season, the league announced Thursday.

The Buccaneers are starting new programs, and will join a conference that includes full-time members UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point, and affiliate member UW-Superior.

“Our conference is pleased to welcome Beloit College,” WIAC Commissioner Danielle Harris said in a release. “The addition of Beloit College enhances the conference’s mission to provide championship experiences for student-athletes.”

Beloit College will take Northland College’s place in the league, and its rosters will feature coaches and players from the Lumberjacks and Lumberjills rosters following news of Northland closing this spring.
