The Buffalo Sabres made a move ahead of Friday’s NHL draft.
The team announced early Thursday morning that have agreed to a deal to send forward JJ Peterka to Utah for forward Josh Doan and defenseman Michael Kesselring.
According to a post on “X”, Peterka also signed a new 5 year extensation with the Utah hockey club.
Buffalo Sabres Trade Away JJ Peterka
Peterka was drafted 34th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2020 NHL draft. He joined the Sabres in 2021, playing 2 games with the Sabres that season. He became a regular player for the Sabres in 2022 and had scored 67 goals and has had 83 assists for a total of 150 points in his NHL career.
After the trade, Peterka signed a long-term five-year, $38.5 million contract extension with the Mammoth.

Josh Doan And Michael Kesselring Joining The Buffalo Sabres
Doan was the 37th overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft by Utah when they were in Arizona. He has played in 62 NHL games, scoring 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points.
Kesselring was drafted 164th overall by Edmonton in the 2018 NHL draft. He has played in 156 NHL games, scoring 12 goals and 41 assists for a total of 53 points.
Both players are expected to play in Buffalo next season.
