The sports world is filled with action this weekend. The NHL Playoffs are nearing the end of round two. The NBA is also close to finishing round two and moving onto the next round. The PGA Championship begins Thursday at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. The running of the Preakness is Saturday and although Sovereignty, the winner of the Kentucky Derby is not running, it should still be an exciting race. How can we not mention the Tigers, who are still continuing their winning ways on the diamond. I say, let’s dig into all these intriguing sports stories.

The PGA Championship will be filled with professional golfers looking to capture a golf major. The obvious two favorites are Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, who both are at 4-1 to win. The next two who follow those two, as far as odds to win, goes like this: Bryson DeChambeau at 9-1 and Justin Thomas at 16-1 and four players who are at 20-1. The Fat Guy prediction to win a major this weekend is Collin Morikawa. I can tell you, this will be some good golf to watch this weekend.

The running of the 150th Preakness Stakes takes place this Saturday at Pimlico Race Course. The favorite to win this Saturday is Journalism, who finished second to Sovereignty in the Kentucky Derby. I do think the race lost some excitement when Sovereignty decided not to run. I would have loved to see a Triple Crown shot by Sovereignty. The pressure is on Journalism to win as the favorite of the Preakness Stakes.

The horse everyone loves is Sandman, who will be second choice at 4-1. A horse who I think has a great shot at winning is Clever Again, who did not run in the Kentucky Derby. The horse Goal Oriented at 6-1 will also have a real good shot to win in my opinion. Who is the Fat Guy’s pick this weekend you ask? I am going to pick Journalism to cross the wire first and Clever Again will run second. I say, good luck to all of you betting the Preakness! RIDERS UP!

The NBA playoffs have some shocking potential series upsets on the horizon. The Eastern Conference Indiana Pacers are on the verge of eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Pacers finished the series 4-1 and will move onto round three. The other series in the Eastern Conference is shocking as well as the New York Knicks lead the Boston Celtics 3-1. I think the shooting woes of the Celtics from three ball land will send them home from the playoffs. Their next game was set for after my deadline. I ask, who had the Pacers playing the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals? I can say, not me!

The Western Conference has a good series going with the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder. As of my deadline Oklahoma leads 3-2. I know many thought the Thunder would win this series easy, but it is not the case. I still like OKC to prevail.

The other Western Conference series has Minnesota Timberwolves holding a commanding 3-1 lead over the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors cannot overcome the loss of Steph Curry’s hamstring injury. The next game was set for after my deadline, but I say, the Minnesota team will go to the Western Conference Finals.

The NHL playoffs in the Eastern Conference has a tremendous series in Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. The two teams are knotted up at 2-2. The next game was set for after my deadline, but I still like Toronto to move on to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Carolina Hurricanes will win the other series in the Eastern Conference as they are up 3-1 over Washington.

The Western Conference has the Edmonton Oilers holding a commanding 3-1 lead over the Vegas Knights. The Oilers hockey team is looking fabulous in this series. The Oilers will win and move onto the Western Conference Finals.

The Dallas Stars are up 3-1 in their series against the Winnipeg Jets. The Dallas Stars will move on as the Winnipeg Jets’ goalie Connor Hellebuyck is absolutely horrible. I say, what a playoff choke artist he is in back-to-back playoff years.

The Detroit Tigers continue to play good baseball, and let’s hope it stays that way all summer long. I am really believing in this 2025 baseball team.
