The 2025 NHL Draft begins on June 27 with the first round from Los Angeles, with a major trade already impacting the order before the first pick is made by the New York Islanders.
And the Islanders were the ones to shake up the middle of the draft order, trading defenseman Noah Dobson to Montreal for No. 16 and No. 17 overall plus forward Emil Heineman.
Multiple reports indicate that the Islanders are attempting to move further up in the draft, possibly inside the top eight picks.
New York will also make news with its No. 1 overall selection, likely Canadian defenseman Matthew Schaefer per multiple reports.
The Nashville Predators hold three first-round picks, including Nos. 5, 23 and 26 overall.
