After all the noise surrounding Sam Bennett and where he is going to end up this off-season, an official contract has been signed.
There was a lot of speculation that Sam Bennett was going to leave the Florida Panthers in the off-season, but that isn’t the case.
According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, the Florida Panthers have officially re-signed with the Florida Panthers.
Johnston reported that Bennett has signed an eight-year contract extension making $8 million a year.

The Boston Bruins were surrounded in multiple rumors with Bennett, but at the end of the day he has chose to stick around with the Panthers.
After trading Brad Marchand at the NHL trade deadline, Bennett would have been a nice replacement for him in the off-season.«Bennett is right in his prime at 29 years old, but he’d provide Boston with some additional physicality on the offensive end, as well as another experienced goal scoring threat,» Rasmussen concludes. «The 11-year veteran has scored 20 or more goals in three of the last four years, and his 25 goals last season would have ranked third on the Bruins behind only David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie.»
At that price as well, Don Sweeney would have definitely been all in on Bennett if he had hit the free agent market.
Unfortunately the Bruins are not going to get a chance to sign him as free agency is still a few days away, and Bennett has decided to stay in Florida.
