ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The NHL’s Seattle Kraken concluded their visit to Anchorage on Friday by hosting a free community skate at the Dimond Center Ice Chalet.
Kids and families, many decked out in Kraken gear, quickly filled up the rink as the event began at 3 p.m., and were soon joined by Seattle’s “sea troll” mascot, Buoy.

It’s the conclusion of “Kraken Week,” which started with the fourth installment of a youth hockey camp in partnership with Alaska Hockey Academy. The Kraken have made the trip to Anchorage each off season since the team was founded in 2021.
“We love Alaska, we love Anchorage,” Kraken manager of fan development Tyler Deloach said.
“So being in the community, specifically making sure that people can ice skate with us, is something that we prioritize.”
Buoy and friends head back to Seattle on Saturday to continue their off season.
The 2025-26 NHL season is scheduled to begin on October 7th.
