Following the 2025 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens have set their sights on a new player.
As reported by the excellent journalist Mikaël Lalancette, former Blainville-Boisbriand Armada defenseman Simon Lavigne has just been invited by the Canadiens and will officially attend Montreal’s development camp in the coming days. Solid!
Simon Lavigne Joins the Montreal Canadiens for Development Camp
Unless we’re mistaken, this is the first official invite extended by Kent Hughes following the 2025 draft.
“Former Blainville-Boisbriand Armada defenseman Simon Lavigne (Concordia University) will be attending the Canadiens’ development camp in the coming days.”

We’d like to congratulate him and are genuinely happy for him!
We’re also really looking forward to this 2025 Montreal Canadiens development camp to see some of the new faces in action.
Most of the players drafted yesterday by the Habs are expected to attend!
Simon Lavigne, age 24, is a 6-foot-3, 188-pound left-handed defenseman from Blainville, Quebec.
He played four seasons with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in the QMJHL, where he notably recorded 36 points in 65 games during the 2021-22 season.
Lavigne also played 22 games with the Rapid City Rush in the ECHL, tallying 12 points, including four goals.
Since 2023, he has played with Concordia University. This season, he put up 22 points in 24 games and now seems ready to take a shot at joining an NHL organization.
He could be a name to watch for the Laval Rocket and/or the reigning ECHL champions, the Trois-Rivières Lions.
